The four-day Induction Program organized by the National Assembly Secretariat from 6-9 February 2024,  at the Gyelyong Tshogkhang for the new members of the Fourth National Assembly successfully concluded today.

Throughout the intensive program, participants engaged in a series of information sessions covering crucial topics such as parliamentary roles, privileges, entitlements, legislative procedures, e-Parliament functionalities, and the Parliamentary Resource Management Systems.

Distinguished representatives from various governmental bodies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Anti-Corruption Commission, Royal Audit Authority, and National Statistical Bureau, delivered insightful presentations outlining the existing policies, their respective roles and strategic plans for the upcoming 13th Five-Year Plan (FYP). Further, the Members benefited from the informative sessions on security conducted by the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP), ensuring they are well-versed in matters of safety and protocol. Additionally, a session focusing on Driglam Namzhag, the  Bhutanese code of etiquette and conduct, was also conducted, enriching participants with cultural insights essential for their parliamentary duties.

The Induction Program serves as a vital platform to deepen the understanding and appreciation of the constitutional role of the Parliament as the core institution of Democracy. By familiarizing members with operational mechanisms, parliamentary traditions, conventions, and etiquette and government policies, the program is aimed to empower them to effectively serve their constituents and uphold democratic principles in their legislative endeavors.
