Presentations on Bills
After having decided on the agenda for the upcoming session, the Secretariat organized presentations on the Bills and international instruments to be deliberated to the Members of the National Assembly today.
The presentations were on the following:
- Agreement on Movement of Traffic-in Transit between People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Royal Government of Bhutan by the Department of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Employment;
- BIMSTEC Charter by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade;
- Proposal for a new Biological Corridor (BC-9) connecting Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary and Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary by the Department of Forests and Park Services, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources;
- Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) by the officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade; and
- National Digital Identity Bill of Bhutan 2023 by the Government Technology Agency.
Each presentation was followed by questions for clarification and for the respective committees to note for further discussion with the specific committee consultations.
The Bills and international instruments have been referred to the relevant committees for further review and scrutiny, to be reported to the 9th Session of the Third Parliament scheduled in June.
