Deliberation on Property Tax Bill concludes at National Assembly

The House concluded the deliberation on the Property Tax Bill of Bhutan 2022 today. 

The House deliberated in detail the exemptions and concessions on land and building taxes. During the discussion, a 50% discount on the rural land tax was proposed, which was forwarded to the Committee for further discussion. The Committee was also directed to review Section 22 on the remittance of a percentage not exceeding 50% of the amount of building tax payable on Protected Traditional Houses in urban centres. The House also directed the Committee to revisit Sections 43, 46, and 50 under Appeal Procedure considering the opinions and concerns expressed by the Members, and report back to the House tomorrow.

The House deliberated in length on the Consequences of Non-Payment of Land Tax and supported the two clauses under it with a majority show of hands and completed deliberations on the rest of the clause of the Bill. 

The Bill will be put to a vote tomorrow.
