Delegation from the Western Australian Legislative Assembly calls on the Hon’ble Speaker
A delegation from the Western Australian Legislative Assembly led by the Speaker Hon Michelle Roberts called on the Speaker Wangchuk Namgyel. Deputy Speaker Tshencho Wangdi was present at the event.
Speaker Wangchuk Namgyel in welcoming expressed his joy in having the delegation to Bhutan. The Speaker expressed gratitude to the government of Australia for the development assistance to Bhutan especially in the field of professional education. He has also thanked the Australian government for creating an enabling environment for the Bhutanese working and students studying in Australia.
Speaker Michelle expressed their happiness for the much awaited visit to Bhutan and their excitement in being able to visit the Parliament of Bhutan. She spoke highly of the bond Australia shares with Bhutan and how much they value and cherish the relationship.
The call-on also noted the possibilities of forming a parliamentary friendship group, parliamentary exchange programs and exploring areas of partnership between the two Parliaments.
The delegation will attend the opening ceremony of the Summer Parliamentary Session.
Formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Australia were established from September 2002. Bhutan established an Embassy in Canberra in 2021.
