Ambassador of Vietnam calls on the Hon’ble Speaker

Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai of Socialist Republic of Vietnam, who is currently in the country called on the Hon’ble Speaker today. 

Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai thanked Hon’ble Speaker for the warm welcome and conveyed the warm greetings from the Chairperson of National Assembly of Vietnam and extented an invitation to the Hon’ble Speaker inviting him to visit Vietnam. He had also commented on the picturesque beauty of Bhutan. The Ambassador expressed interest in strengthening the people to people contact and strengthening ties in areas of tourism, telecommunication and economic reforms.  He had also informed on the initiative of the Vietnam government to provide e-VISA for Bhutanese which will make it convenient for Bhutanese to visit Vietnam. 

Hon’ble Speaker welcomed the Ambassador and expressed his admiration for Vietnam on its swift recovery from COVID 19 Pandemic and rapid economic development taking place in Vietnam. The Speaker thanked the Chairperson of the National Assembly of Vietnam for the invitation extended to visit Vietnam and reciprocated the invitation to the Chairperson. He welcomed the e-VISA initiative for the Bhutanese, highlighting its potential to strengthen interpersonal connections and friendships between the two countries. He also proposed the establishment of Parliamentary Friendship Groups to foster exchange of experiences and knowledge sharing between the respective parliaments. 

Bhutan's diplomatic ties with Vietnam were established on 19 January 2012.
