Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy and Social Media Analytics Workshop

The workshop on AI Literacy and Social Media Analytics was held in Paro from December 20 to 22, 2023 for the Parliament of Bhutan. The participation of the Chairperson, Members of the National Council, Secretaries General, and staff of the National Council and the National Assembly Secretariats indicated a strong commitment to advancing knowledge and skills in the areas of AI, social media analytics, and digital communication.

The workshop covered various social media platforms, analytics, digital communication, and foundational principles of AI and machine learning, which are comprehensive and relevant in today's technology-driven landscape. The practical knowledge gained in these areas will have a direct and positive impact on the participants' professional capacities, enhancing their ability to navigate the complexities of online communication and information management.

The emphasis on improving online communication skills and understanding AI and machine learning principles aligns with the increasing importance of these technologies in various fields. The participants' newfound knowledge will contribute to making informed decisions, both in their legislative responsibilities and in their personal lives.

The incorporation of AI tools for tasks such as editing, research, and document management is a valuable addition to the workshop. This will not only expedite workflow processes and improve efficiency but also equip the participants with practical tools that can be applied in their roles as public servants.

Furthermore, the combination of theory and hands-on learning is an effective approach, fostering confidence among participants in using AI wisely. This dual approach ensures that the knowledge gained is not only theoretical but also practical and applicable in real-world scenarios.

The workshop, organized by Project Nyamdrel, International IDEA under financial support of the European Union, highlighted the collaborative efforts and support from various stakeholders in promoting AI literacy and digital skills. Such initiatives play a crucial role in preparing individuals, especially those in governance, to effectively leverage technology for the benefit of society.

Overall, it was a well-rounded and impactful workshop that addresses the evolving needs of individuals in positions of responsibility, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital age.
