The Environment and Climate Change Committee held consultation meetings with key agencies, including the Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL), Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA), and the Department of Agriculture (DoA) at Lhen-Zom Khangzang, National Assembly of Bhutan.
Discussions centered on critical public issues, including human-wildlife conflict and compensation schemes, shortages of farm machinery and spare parts, and the high costs associated with hiring. The committee also addressed the requirement for permits from gewogs for transporting agricultural produce within the country.
The meeting aims to foster collaboration and find effective solutions for issues faced by farmers to enhance agricultural productivity contributing towards food security and self sufficiency goals of Bhutan.
