The Women, Children and Youth Committee holds consultation meeting with Office of the Attorney General of Bhutan

The Women, Children and Youth Committee (WCYC) held a consultation meeting with the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) as part of an ongoing review of the status of the  National Commission for Women and Children (NCWC). This review follows the NCWC’s integration into the Department of Education Program under the Ministry of Education and Skills Development during the civil service transformation exercise in 2022.

The meeting focused primarily on the OAG's perspectives regarding the structural transformation of the NCWC in view of the Civil Service Reform Act 2022, discussions on potential implications and possible future directions. Other concerns/issues the meeting discussed were about the situation of crime especially in relation to women and children, possible root causes including social issues, children coming into conflict with the law and the relevant laws such as the Child Care and Protection Act of Bhutan 2011, Domestic Violence Prevention Act 2013.
