The Women, Children and Youth Committee hold a consultation with Royal Bhutan Police (RBP)

The Women, Children and Youth Committee held a consultation meeting with the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) at the Ga-Kyid Khangzang, National Assembly of Bhutan, today. The RBP presented comprehensive crime statistics, focusing on case statuses, prevalent crimes, and issues specifically related to women and children, including domestic violence and sexual offenses.

The primary goal of the meeting was to understand the current crime situation in the country and to ensure safety of the citizens, particularly women and children, address youth-related issues and identify root causes of such conducts, while fostering collaboration between the parliament and the RBP to effectively address these pressing concerns, and work towards making the country a crime-free society. The meeting also discussed the constraints and challenges faced by RBP and how the law enforcement agency can be strengthened.

In addition, the meeting sought the RBP's perspectives on the structural transformation of the National Commission for Women and Children (NCWC) in light of the Civil Service Reform Act 2022.
