The Legislative Committee of the National Assembly holds consultation meeting with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre (ADRC)
The Legislative Committee of the National Assembly held a consultation today with the Chief Administrator of the Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre (ADRC), and his team at Lhen-zom Khangzang. The meeting aimed to gain a clearer understanding of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (Amendment) Bill 2024, which will be deliberated during the upcoming Third Summer Session of the Fourth Parliament.
This consultation follows the Bill’s earlier deliberation in the National Council, where further clarification was found necessary before it is discussed in the National Assembly House. The Committee sought detailed insights from the Bhutan ADRC to ensure the Committee is well-informed.
The Amendment Bill is intended to strengthen the process and institution, and align with international practices. By consulting the Bhutan ADRC, the Legislative Committee of the National Assembly aims to address the concerns and ensure that the Bill meets the country’s needs while maintaining the independence and accountability of ADRC practices. The Committee will continue to engage in consultations with relevant stakeholders as it prepares its report for the upcoming summer session.
