The Hon’ble Speaker Visits Samtse Dzongkhag

The Speaker of the Parliament, Hon’ble Lungten Dorji is currently on an official visit to Samtse Dzongkhag from 3-8th March. During the visit, the  Speaker visited Tashicholing Dungkhag in Samtse, where he was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Speaker, Dasho Drangpon, Dasho OC, Lam, Dungkhag officials, and Local Government (LG) members. During the meeting, the Speaker briefed on the roles and responsibilities of Parliamentarians and solicited feedback from the sector heads. He also highlighted His Majesty’s visionary plans for the GMC and Gyalsung program.


Following the meeting, the Speaker visited the newly constructed Tashicholing Hospital and toured Gola Bazaar, one of the oldest marketplaces in Samtse, where he interacted with local shopkeepers. The Speaker then traveled to Tendruk, where he met with officials from the health, education, rural development, and business sectors. Local government members from Tendruk Gewog and Norgaygang Gewog raised several concerns, including challenges in obtaining ESP loans, the need for a health assistant (nurse), and requests for additional block grants to support grassroots-level development activities.


The Speaker also visited Tendruk Central School, where he engaged with the principal, teachers, and staff, and inspected the hostel facilities, which still awaits completion.


The Deputy Speaker, who accompanied the Speaker on this visit, expressed his appreciation for the Speaker’s leadership and the contributions of the members present.


The Speaker  is scheduled to visit industrial sites, Dorokha Dungkhag, and meet with the local business community.
