
The Good Governance Committee holds consultation meeting with GovTech and Public Service Delivery Division (PSDD) under Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
The Good Governance Committee held a consultation meeting with GovTech and Public Service Delivery Division (PSDD) under the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet today at Lhen-Zom Khangzang, Gyelyong Tshokhang. The consultation was held to discuss plans to enhance public service delivery at the local government level in the 13th Five-Year Plan (FYP). The meeting aimed to get insights into the government's strategies, understand the status and challenges of public service delivery at the grassroots level, and discuss ways forward.
Key issues covered included the status of community centers (CCs), their infrastructure and capacity, and the monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely actions. The session included a presentation by GovTech and PSDD, followed by discussion and feedback. The committee made the following recommendations:
1. Strengthen Community centers through the appointment of qualified and regular civil servants.
2. Expedite development of single platform or Integrated Service center for seamless service delivery.
3. Develop Digital Planning Dashboard for the three branches of the government to monitor progress and achievements.
4. Strengthen digital infrastructure in the light of connectivity, accessibility and affordability to enhance rural prosperity and curb rural urban migration.
5. Strengthen monitoring and accountability of Public service delivering agencies.
6. GovTech to expedite, share digital transformation plans and status given the huge budget allocation of Nu. 11.88 Billion in 13th FYP.
7. Prioritise and harmonize Citizen-centric online public service delivery such as health and banking.
The meeting was an important step in fostering better communication and collaboration between government officials and stakeholders in improving public services delivery. GGC will be further conducting consultation meetings with Local Governments in the coming months to strengthen public service delivery.
