The Finance Minister Presents Annual Budget Report for the FY 2024- 2025 and Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for the FY 2023-2024

The Finance Minister also presented the Annual Budget Report for the FY 2024-2025 of the total estimated budget of Nu.89,154.218 million, with Nu.50,809.905 million allocated for current expenditure and Nu. 38,344.313 million for capital expenditure.

Of the total resources of Nu.73,182.049 million, Nu.54,749.944 million is from Domestic Revenue, Nu.1,910.482 million from other receipts and Nu.16,521.623 million from grants. The Finance Minister reported a total deficit of Nu.15,972.169 million. 

In highlighting sectoral budget allocations, the Finance Minister said that significant allocation of almost 22 billion for the education sector in FY 2024-2025, underscoring the government's commitment to nurturing the nation's future.

To address adjustments to the approved budget, the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2023-24 was introduced. The Bill, in compliance with Bhutan's laws, outlines funds not exceeding Nu.3,224.924 million for donor-funded activities and technical adjustments. With this revision, the revised budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024 stands at Nu. 88,747.460 million. The Bill specifies that the supplementary appropriation will be drawn from the Consolidated Fund of the Royal Government of Bhutan, reflecting the government's commitment to effective financial management and resource allocation for the upcoming fiscal year.
