The Economic and Finance Committee (EFC) holds consultation meetings with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MoIT) and Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR)

On 27 May 2024, the EFC held a consultation meeting with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MoIT) and Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, (MoENR) at the Lhen-Zom Khangzang of the National Assembly.


The stakeholders provided a comprehensive overview of the sector's challenges, opportunities, and priorities, including its current status of the ongoing projects and pipeline projects for the 13th Five-Year Plan. They also presented key achievements made in the 12th Five-Year Plan. 


During the session, the EFC Members delved into the complexities of roads and associated infrastructure. Members were presented with the Road Infrastructure Strategy for the 13th Five-Year Plan and the selection criteria and resource allocation for the road projects were discussed at length.


For the hydropower sector, the Members were presented with the information on the institutional arrangement, energy balance sheet, resource potential, demand versus supply, large hydro projects (existing and under construction), solar and off-grid projects, the Hydropower and Solar Plan for 2024 - 2034, and the issues and challenges faced by the sector.
