Parliament conducts three day sensitization workshop for Civil Society Organizations on Parliamentary Procedures and Committee Systems

A three-day workshop was held in Haa Heritage from September 25-27, 2024, to sensitize Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on parliamentary procedures and committee systems. The workshop, attended by about 15 CSOs along with Members of Parliament and secretariat staff, aimed to foster better understanding and collaboration between Parliament and CSOs. The Secretary General of the National Assembly presented an overview of Bhutan's parliamentary evolution, followed by discussions on legislative procedures and CSO-parliament collaboration strategies.

Panel discussions involved Members of the National Assembly and CSO representatives, covering key topics such as education, security clearance challenges, and youth migration. These discussions encouraged open dialogue on issues and explored ways to address them effectively. CSO representatives also shared their roles, mandates, and challenges, deepening mutual understanding and promoting stronger cooperation in law-making and public service delivery.

The workshop, supported by the European Union through the 'Nyamdrel II' project, emphasized the importance of youth engagement and ongoing collaboration between Parliament and CSOs. It concluded with valuable feedback, reinforcing the need for continued dialogue to enhance the impact of both CSOs and Parliament in Bhutan.
