National Assembly Members completes the five days course on Social Policy

A five-day course on Social Policy was held for the Members of National Assembly from 29th July to 2nd August 2024 in Paro. Speaking at the opening, the Speaker highlighted  the importance of the course for the Members of Parliament, in making evidence-based decisions  for effective policy outcomes.


The course  provided insights into the  critical role of social policy, evidence gathering, and leadership skills necessary for shaping and implementing effective social policies. It also covered key topics such as Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) recommendations, SDG 4 costing, case studies like Satong and Gungtong, and the impact of digital technology on social policy. Additionally, it addressed population trends, macroeconomic scenarios, border management, global data perspectives, agile governance, child-sensitive social protection, leadership in public service, strategic negotiation, public engagement, and communication in policy decisions.


The Social Policy Course was conducted jointly by Sherubtse College, RUB, UNICEF and UNDP.
