National Assembly Adopts the Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2024-2025 and Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2023-2024

Before the adoption of the Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2024-2025 and Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2023-2024, the Chairperson of the Economic and Finance Committee presented the review report on the recommendation to allocate an additional budget of Nu.140.200 million to enhance the capacity of the National Food Testing Laboratory, aiming to improve certification services for easier import and export of food products. 

While the Finance Minister submitted that the budget cannot be allocated in the first year, the House through show of hands endorsed the Committee’s recommendation to provide the budget as required.

The Member in-Charge of the Bill, the Finance Minister moved the motion to adopt the Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2024-2025 and Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2023-2024

The House unanimously adopted the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2023-2024 for a sum of Nu.3,224.924 million with all 46 members present and voting in favor. The House also adopted the Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2024-2025 a sum of Nu.97,654.829 million with 45 Yes and 1 No vote, out of 46 members present and voting. The Bills will be transmitted to the National Council.
