Motion on inconvenience caused by presence of Electric Lines and Pole on farmlands

The Member of the Khatoed Laya constituency moved the motion on the inconvenience caused by the presence of electric lines and poles on farmlands in the House today.

The Member submitted that the presence of electrical lines and poles on farmlands disrupt farming activities, causing extensive crop damage and financial losses for farmers. Further, the fallen poles pose safety risks, endangering farmers, livestock, and local communities, especially in areas frequented by children.

The Member further presented the following two recommendations to the House:

  1. Relocation of the high tension electricity towers erected in densely populated areas to safe places; and

  2. Government to allocate funds for relocation and compensation or replacement of land for the private lands  where relocation is not provided.

The House endorsed the two recommendations with 33 Yes  votes, 6 Abstain  and 3 No Votes out of 42 Members present and voting. The resolution of the House will be forwarded to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources for necessary action.
