Members of Parliament attend the India-Bhutan Bilateral Meeting on Cross-Border Malaria Elimination, ongoing from January 29-30, 2025
The India Bhutan Bilateral Meeting with Parliamentarians and National Malaria Program for Cross -Border malaria elimination is going on from 29th - 30th of January, 2025 at Ratnamouli Palace, Guwahati, Assam. The meeting is organized by South-East Asia Regional Coordination Mechanism Forum with the objective to:
1. To review the current status of cross-border malaria situation following recent reported upsurge of malaria cases in India-Bhutan cross-border districts
2. To take necessary actions to prevent future outbreaks and accelerate malaria elimination in the India-Bhutan cross-border areas.
3. To seek support of parliamentarians for mobilizing community and domestic resources to sustain malaria elimination in their respective constituencies.
The meeting is attended by few Members of the Parliament from Bhutan and Members of Parliament and Member of Legislative Assembly from the Indian State Assam and West Bengal. The technical team from Ministry of Health, Bhutan, and their counterparts from the state of Assam and West Bengal are also in attendance for the events to deliberate and chart forward the effective measures in eliminating malaria both sides of the bordering areas of Bhutan and India.
