Hon’ble Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan presents the Rising Leaders Award at the Youth Leadership Program’s Final Round

Hon’ble Speaker Lungten Dorji presented the Rising Leaders Award to the winners of the Youth Leadership Program Finals held today at the Trowa Theater, Changjiji, Thimphu. 

Speaking at the function, the Hon'ble Speaker said that it was heartening to note the participation of youth in such programs fulfilling the aspiration of His Majesty the King to build a strong motivated young Bhutan guaranteeing a bright future. He expressed solidarity with the myriad challenges that the Youth of today face especially in terms of mental health and substance abuse, expressing the support of the Parliament and the Government to overcome these challenges. Hon’ble Dorji Wangmo from Kengkhar -Weringla constituency also attended the program. 

The Youth Leadership Program was organized by the Chithuen Phendey Association with the aim to instill leadership and communication skills in the youth of Bhutan to prepare them to be future leaders of the country. The participants from various higher schools in Thimphu had engaged in intensive debate and public speaking competitions. The focus of the program was also to raise awareness and advocate on critical social issues particularly substance use and abuse including mental health challenges.
