Economic and Finance Committee consults stakeholders in preparation for upcoming Public Hearing on ESP

The Economic and Finance Committee held two stakeholder consultations at the Lhen-zom Khangzang National Assembly today as part of preparations for the upcoming Public Hearing on the Economic Stimulus Plan (ESP).

In the morning, the committee engaged with the Association of Bhutan Cottage Small and Medium Industries (ABCSMI) and the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI). The focus of the consultation was on assessing the ESP's impact on small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Key representatives, including the Secretary General of BCCI and the President of ABCSMI, participated in discussions that included presentations on the ESP’s targets, challenges, and recommendations. The session concluded with an interactive in-depth discussions  where stakeholders shared their personal experiences and provided valuable feedback. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to raising public awareness on the ESP and strengthening institutional mechanisms to support SMEs.

In the afternoon, the Committee  met with the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO). This session focused on assessing the ESP’s impact on the tourism sector and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. Representatives from ABTO provided insights on the plan’s effectiveness, sector-specific challenges, and proposed recommendations and feedback. 

Both consultations aimed to gather input from key stakeholders in preparation for the upcoming Public Hearing on the ESP.
