Deputy Speaker meets with people of Dophuchen Gewog virtually

On September 18th, after arriving back from constituency visit,  the Deputy Speaker,Hon Sangay Khandu, held a virtual meeting with the residents of Dophuchen Gewog, Samtse Dzongkhag. During this session, he briefed the public on the 13th Five Year Plan (FYP) and the government's pledges. He highlighted several key points, starting with the ESP loan that is aimed at providing increased financial support to the farmers. He emphasized the importance of boosting cash crop production, particularly ginger, oranges, areca nut, and cardamom, to strengthen the agricultural economy and improve livelihoods.

He also mentioned the potential for diversifying into new cash crops such as hazelnut, avocado, and mango, with support from Agriculture Extension Staff. In addition to cash crops, he encouraged the community to engage in livestock farming.

The Deputy Speaker reassured the residents that the government is committed to fulfilling its pledges, though he reminded them that these initiatives are to be implemented over a five-year period. He also informed that the 13th FYP has been successfully launched, with an overall budget target of Nu. 512 billion, and a total budget of over Nu. 97 billion has been approved by Parliament for the fiscal year 2024-2025.
