Constituency Visit Update - Dewathang- Gomdar constituency, Samdrup Jongkhar

The Member of the National Assembly, Hon’ble Tshering Penjor from the Dewathang Gomdar constituency, successfully concluded his 18-days constituency visit today with an exit meeting held at the Dzongkhag Administration.

During the visit, the Member met with residents of Dewathang, Orong, Gomdar, Wangphu, and Phuntshothang Gewogs. He emphasized His Majesty’s National Day Address, the importance of the Gyelsung and De-suung Programs, and various national initiatives and reforms, including Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), and the Economic Stimulus Plan. Additionally, he informed the public about the resolutions from the Second Session of the Fourth Parliament to ensure a better understanding of the ongoing developments.

The residents raised several concerns during the meetings, including drinking water shortages, high taxation, and the need for a river protection wall along the Tsangchhu Thama area in Phuntshothang Gewog. They also requested the blacktopping of the existing farm road to improve accessibility and durability. Other issues raised by the public included poor network connectivity from both Bhutan Telecom and T-Cell, as well as questions regarding the status of increasing life insurance.

As part of his constituency visit, the Member  also visited Gomdar Central School and inspected bridge and irrigation channel construction sites at Tsangchu Thama and Khamoedthang Chiwog in Phuntshothang Gewog.

The visit concluded on a positive note with the exit meeting, where key issues were addressed, and discussion of the way forward. The exit meeting was attended by Dasho Dzongda, Dzongrab, and the sector heads.
