The Members of Parliament took part in the half day consultation carried out by the The World Bank Group in preparing the new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for Bhutan for the period FY 2025-2029 at the Le Meredian, today.
During
the consultation Members raised the following points for collaboration and
support:
1. Strengthening legislative scrutiny of
economic, monetary and other relevant laws to ensure effectiveness of laws and
FDI policy;
2. Carrying out policy review and
strengthening of legislative capacity;
3. Strengthening research capacity of the
legislative bodies for informed decision making;
4. Strengthening Parliament-Private sector
collaboration to facilitate framing of enabling legislation for private sector
development;
5. Facilitating support for Parliament- CSO
collaboration;
6. Enabling legislations for conducive
digital economy;
7. Enabling carbon negative countries to
gain financial incentives through carbon trading and other mechanisms with
enabling legislative support from global and national institutions.
Members
of parliament stressed on the need for similar platforms in future to ensure
facilitation of holistic development.
