The Environment and Climate Change Committee holds its First Committee Meeting
The Environment and Climate Change Committee held its first meeting on 22 March, 2024 at the Gakyid-Khangzang.
The Committee discussed two main issues mainly with regard to unauthorized felling of trees on private land and the prolonged duration of almost three years for getting approval for rural timber for construction. The Committee decided to review the relevant laws and regulations regarding the two matters and consult relevant agencies in the following days.
The Environment and Climate Change Committee comprises nine members, with four from the ruling and five from the opposition parties, chaired by Hon. Pema Drukpa, Member of Parliament from Khamaed Lunana constituency.
