National Assembly of Bhutan Dissolves upon Completion of its Five-Year Term
In strict accordance with Section 24 of Article 10 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan, the National Assembly convened its term-end sitting today, signifying the culmination of the five-year tenure of the incumbent National Assembly of the Third Parliament of Bhutan.
The esteemed members of the National Assembly of Bhutan commenced their roles on 31 October 2018, and over the past half-decade, they have steadfastly served the nation with dedication, bringing their term to a close on the 30 October 2023.
Throughout the span of their five-year tenure, the National Assembly has achieved remarkable milestones, with a particular emphasis on their unwavering efforts in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic. Their exceptional commitment to public health and safety has been both commendable and effective, resulting in minimal loss of life during this unprecedented global crisis.
During the term-end sitting held this evening, Tshogpoen Wangchuk Namgyel formally read out the Term-End Order of the Third Parliament and signed on it. The speaker stated, “The sagacious counsel and luminous wisdom of His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck, served as our guiding luminaries, illuminating our path towards the realization of a harmonious and flourishing nation,” emphasizing the importance of wise leadership of His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo on the endeavors of the Members of the Parliament.
