The Members of the Economic and Finance Committee subsequent to the consultation meetings held in Thimphu, held a week-long stakeholder meetings in the southern districts which ended yesterday on review of balance of trade.

The committee had extensive discussions with the relevant stakeholders which included the business community, SMCL, PCAL, Lhaki Cement, Farmers’ cooperatives  and IMPEX located in Samtse, Gomtu, Phuntsholing, Gelephu and Tsirang. The pertinent issues conversed were challenges confronted in doing business such as access to finance, complex bureaucratic procedures, state owned enterprises competing with private sectors and other issues.
