National Assembly ratifies the BIMSTEC Agreement on Maritime Transport Cooperation

The National Assembly today ratified the BIMSTEC Agreement on Maritime Transport Cooperation  with all 44 members present, voting in favour of the Agreement.

 

Moving the motion to adopt the Bill, the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport expressed gratitude to all those involved in the Agreement for their support. The signing of the Agreement is expected to improve regional connectivity and cross-border trade while obligations & cooperation between the members of Maritime Transport shall be based on the principle of national sovereignty and mutual benefits.


The Agreement will be transmitted to the National Council as per Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly of Bhutan 2022.
