Members and the Secretariat staff of the National Assembly of Bhutan led by the Hon’ble Speaker attended the ongoing annual Durga Puja at the Devi Panchayan temple on 3rd Oct 2022, to join the prayers for the peace and prosperity of the country.

The word ‘Durga’ literally means invincible. And Goddess Durga is depicted as a fearless Goddess whose mythology revolves around the winning of good over evil. Praying to Goddess Durga would also mean gaining positive energy and cleansing the mind to attain purity and salvation. The Navarati and Dussehra celebration seamlessly become a part of the puja as well.

The 10th day of the Puja and the Dassain culminates in the Tika Day. During the occasion, families come together to receive Tika from the eldest of the family, as a symbol of their bond and blessings. This year the Tika day falls on the 5th of October and is observed across the country.

It is an annual event participated by the Members of the National Assembly of Bhutan.
