His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo confers Dakyen to the newly elected National Assembly Speaker-DZ

His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo conferred Dakyen to Lungten Dorji, the recently elected Speaker of the National Assembly. Following the Dakyen conferment, both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker solemnly took the Oath or Affirmation of Secrecy at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang.

Hailing from Panbang constituency under Zhemgang Dzongkhag, Hon’ble Lungten Dorji was elected to the position of Speaker during the first sitting of the National Assembly of the Fourth Parliament held on 25 January, 2024. A distinguished individual, he holds a Bachelor of Arts from Sherubtse College and a Master in Public Administration from the International Institute of Public Administration in Paris, France.

With an impressive career spanning nearly three decades in the civil service, the Speaker had previously served as the Director General of the Department of Local Government and also held the esteemed position of Dzongda in Trongsa and Trashigang Dzongkhags.
