In a significant diplomatic gesture, Ambassador Sudhakar Dalela extended his congratulations to the newly elected Hon’ble Speaker Lungten Dorji during a courtesy call today at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang. His Excellency conveyed his warm wishes to the Hon’ble  Speaker, acknowledging his recent dual success in being elected as a Member and subsequently as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan.

His Excellency, Ambassador Dalela, took the opportunity to express his confidence in the Hon’ble Speaker's capabilities and the promising future of bilateral relations between their respective nations. The diplomatic discourse during the visit touched upon potential areas of collaboration and mutual interest.  The Ambassador underscored the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked between the two Parliaments during the tenure of the former Speaker. Furthermore, he conveyed a keen interest in sustaining and fostering ongoing collaboration between the Parliaments.

In response, Speaker Lungten Dorji graciously thanked Ambassador Dalela for the heartfelt congratulations and highlighted the importance of strengthening the existing strong ties between the two countries.  The Hon’ble Speaker expressed his anticipation of collaborating with and gaining insights from the oldest democracy, emphasizing a mutual exchange of experiences and knowledge-sharing especially in terms of working of committees and parliamentary procedures. 

As the two distinguished leaders engaged in discussions, topics of interest included potential avenues for cooperation and  exchanges between the two Parliaments.     

The courtesy call not only marked a diplomatic milestone but also set the stage for future collaborations and constructive engagements between the two Parliaments.
