
Hon’ble Tshewang Rinzin Member of the National Assembly Represent Bhutan at AFPPD Annual Conference in Bali
Honorable Tshewang Rinzin, Member of National Assembly, is participating in the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) Annual Conference, scheduled from 7-9 October 2024 at the Courtyard by Marriott, Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia.
This year’s theme, “Addressing Three Pillars and Beyond: ICPD30,” will focus on critical global issues including human rights, sustainable development, and reproductive health, considering the upcoming 30th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action.
Honorable Tshewang Rinzin will engage with regional parliamentarians to address key topics such as:
ICPD30 and Demographic Changes in Asia and the Pacific
Investing in Youth and the Demographic Dividend to advance ICPD PoA implementation
Promotion of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment for sustainable development
Addressing Population Aging and ensuring the well-being of older people in Asia and the Pacific
Impact of Climate Change in Development of Societies and Sustainable Development
Additionally, Honorable Member Tshewang Rinzin will chair the session on Impact of Climate Change in Development of Societies and Sustainable Development . The forum will highlight the role of parliamentarians in advancing the ICPD PoA and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The conference will conclude with the adoption of the Bali Parliamentarians Statement and a study visit to Youth Center, Integrated Aging Services at Pedungan Village and Gerasa Women Crisis Center.
