The Chairman of the Economic and Finance Committee of the National Assembly, Honโ€™ble Rinchen Wangdi, Member from Bartsham-Shongphu constituency, along with Committee Member Honโ€™ble Harka Singh Tamang, Member from Gelephu constituency, is currently on an official visit to the southern Dzongkhags of Dagana, Tsirang, Sarpang, and Samtse. The visit is taking place from April 7 to April 15, 2025.
Following successful consultations in Dagana, Tsirang, and Sarpang Dzongkhags on April 8, 10, and 11 respectively, the Committee will continue its meetings in Samtse on April 14. En route to Samtse, the team will also visit the Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) project, which is funded under the Economic Stimulus Plan (ESP).
The consultations are aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the issues and challenges faced on the ground, especially those related to bottlenecks in accessing and effectively utilizing ESP funds.
As part of the Committeeโ€™s preparation for an upcoming public hearing, and to ensure a comprehensive grasp of grassroots-level issues, members of the Economic and Finance Committee are holding meetings with ESP stakeholders across all 20 Dzongkhags. These stakeholders include farmers, business communities, bank officials, Gewog Thrizins, and relevant Dzongkhag sector heads.
The feedback gathered from these consultations will enrich the discussions during the public hearing and contribute to the development of effective recommendations to address the challenges identified.
